Leadership Building
Learning is part of the human experience and it empowers us to improve our thinking, our feelings, our communication, and our service. When Lions put learning into action, leadership happens.
The District Global Action Team works year round with Lions who want to continue growing for the sake of their club, district, communities, and Lions Clubs International. If that describes you – no matter where you are in your leadership journey training and development opportunities are available to keep you moving forward as a Lion and as a person.
Lions Clubs International has exceptional training opportunities for all Lions from the newly inducted to longtime members. There are many opportunities available for Lions to hone in on their leadership knowledge and management skills. The information being presented can benefit you at all levels whether it be, being a club members, committee member, chairperson, club officer, zone, region, and or district officer.
Annually, District 50 sponsors a Lions Leadership Institute to help building your personal leadership skills. We will provide you a positive enriching environment for bonding, learning, and networking comfortably with your fellow Lions and sharing goals, frustrations, exciting ideas and projects. This Institute is not only for those who wish to serve at the Club and District Level, but for anyone who wish to grow in Lionism in some manner and to grow as an individual. At the end of session, you will learn how you can get the most out of yourself and the most out of those you with whom you serve.
Candidates are limited to Lions who have been members for at least 2 years and in good standing in their Club and District. Due to cost constraints, the number of neighbor island Lions is limited to 14 candidates. Candidates should have graduated from a prior ELLLI.
Candidates must commit to pre-institute assignments, the two and one-half day Institute, and group mealtime actives. Attendance at all classroom sessions and schedule activates is mandatory.

Lions Clubs International has exceptional training opportunities for all Lions from the newly inducted to longtime members. This Regional Lions Leadership Institute is one of many opportunities available for Lions to hone in on their leadership knowledge and management skills. The information being presented can benefit you at all levels whether it be, being a club members, committee member, chairperson, club officer, zone, region, and or district officer.
This year District 50 Lions will have the chance to take the Advanced Lions Leadership Institute (ALLI) rather than the Emerging Lions Institute (ELLI). This institute features a different level of classes including Leadership Fundamentals, Project Management, Delegation, Conflict Resolution, Preparing for a Presentation and Developing Lions Leaders. The class will again be offered over the Martin Luther King weekend and will cost $125 per participant.
We are looking for 50 participants with two years of Lions experience and prefer ELLI graduates. If someone has a good reason to attend, like being a club officer, we may make an exception of two. In other states many clubs send their first vice president to this course. Applications are on line at Annhawaiilions.org or a copy is attached. As a Lions Club leader, you understand that building strong communities through volunteer service is our objective. The Lions University program is about making sure that you have the skills and resources to meet this objective.
Through three educational program levels, Lions Leaders will enhance their knowledge and skills to better serve their community.
To complete each program, Lions must complete 10 required courses, at least 5 elective classes, and complete specific leadership experiences. To complete a course, the Lion takes part in an hour long training session. These sessions are offered online on this website, through periodic webinars that are posted on this website, and through live sessions led in Districts and Multiple Districts.
Once the training session is completed, the Lion takes a simple online test to confirm their learning. Upon completion, the Lion is awarded a certificate of course completion. Lions are welcome to complete the courses that interest them in any of the programs, and in any order they wish. Credit is given toward the program that the class is under.
