HAWAI`I STATE CAPITOL drive through at 235 South Beretania Street
In partnership with the Hawaii Foodbank, hundreds of Hawaii Lions & youth Leo Club volunteers throughout the State will staff the collection site and will be accepting canned goods ONLY which include the Hawaii Foodbank’s most wanted foods:
Meats & Tuna ● Soups ● Fruits & Vegetables ● Rice ● Canned Meals – Pasta, Chili, Corned Beef Hash
Many families in Hawaii have difficulty putting food on their table; it is especially a challenge when good people are struggling to make ends meet. You can be part of the Lions effort by making a difference, helping those that really need help.
The Hawaii Foodbank continually needs to have its inventory replenished. Canned foods are the MOST WANTED items that supply the Hawaii Foodbank food pantries, feeding programs, homeless & abuse shelters, rehabilitation centers and soup kitchens.
Hawaii Foodbank, through its network of island food banks and their local food pantries and meal programs, is providing food assistance to more than 123,000 households encompassing 287,000 Islanders—or one in six island residents—including 82,420 keiki and over 46,000 kupuna.
Monetary donations will be accepted and very much appreciated at the drop off area. Cash is welcomed. Every $10 dollars donated, enables the Hawaii Foodbank to distribute food for 25 meals. Please make your tax deductible check payable to ”HAWAII FOODBANK”. Virtual donations can be made here: https://fundraise.givesmart.com/vf/VFD/HawaiiLions1 or text VFD195 to 71777 (message and data rates may apply).
The International Association of Lions Clubs, known for their motto of “We Serve,” is prominently evident with the Hawai`i Lions Clubs throughout our communities. Not only do Hawai`i Lions collect, clean and distribute thousands of eyeglasses each year, they also perform vision and hearing screenings to thousands of children in our elementary and pre-schools throughout our state. In addition to being advocates for the blind and visually impaired, Hawai`i Lions statewide bring about many positive changes in our communities by implementing and completing projects that help to improve and support a variety of efforts to sustain the livelihood of these communities. The efforts of the Hawai`i Lions are undaunted during these difficult times.
